At university, I learned about regional revitalization and wanted to do a job that would lead to regional development and revitalization even in job hunting. During that time, I met our company and decided to join the company because I was attracted to the fact that I was developing beverages that made use of local specialties such as "Aomori apple series" and "Shinshu buckwheat tea". Currently, he is in charge of vending machine installation proposal work in order to increase the number of places where he can offer his own products as a sales position.
Career / transfer history
After joining the company, he was assigned to the Tokyo Metropolitan Area Office, Vending Machine Management Unit, Sales Department. We are planning and proposing the installation of vending machines at the 24 stations of JR East in charge. In addition, in order to increase sales of vending machines in the area in charge, he holds meetings with contractors for beverage replenishment and is also in charge of strategic planning.

Water Business Company is a company where "planning is the life". The seniors around me are struggling every day to put their ideas into shape, and are practicing initiatives that have never been seen before. For example, there is an environment where it is easy to give shape to ideas from a young age, such as researching the sales lineup in collaboration with a university.

私のミッションは、担当エリアの駅で“お客さまへのサービスが足りていない”場所に自動販売機を設置すること。駅構内やホームに設置された自動販売機の売上データを分析し、人の流れも考慮しながら、設置場所と商品ラインナップを提案しています。一般的には、通勤・通学の時間に合わせて朝が一番売れて、お昼に少し落ち着き、夕方から再び売上が伸びるのが通常ですが、中には特殊な駅があって面白いんです。新宿駅の場合、早朝の始発時間に水の販売が伸びる傾向があり、歌舞伎町などで朝までお酒を飲まれていた方が購入されているのかなあと予想しています。また、同じ新宿駅ホームでも電車の進行方向が違えば売れ行きも異なります。埼京線の大崎方面に向かう1・2番線ホームでは、仕事前に容量が大きめのお茶や水を購入される方が多く、大宮方面に向かう3・4番線ホームでは帰宅する方の小腹を満たす需要が多いのか、夕方以降にゼリー系飲料の売れ行きが良くなります。自動販売機のデータはとても正直で、どう読み解き、どこに新規設置提案をするかは、私たち次第です。

Vending machines are a sales floor where many people buy on impulse. You wouldn't have bought it if you didn't see it, and you might not have noticed your thirst. We are proposing opportunities to encourage such impulse purchases by imagining customers' drinking scenes from various data.

An initiative that was spread on SNS and became net news.

Did you know the news that "a vending machine that sells only tea and water" has appeared at Ochanomizu Station, which became a hot topic on SNS in September 2021? Actually, it was the station and I who set this up. At first, partly due to the influence of Corona, I received a consultation from Ochanomizu Station, which I am in charge of, saying, "I want to create a bright topic in the dark world." Thinking "I want to do a slightly different vending machine," I consulted with my direct supervisor and seniors, and with the cooperation of the public relations staff and the department in charge of SNS, this initiative was realized.

Next to the vending machine, we posted an original poster created by a station employee saying, "Because it's Ochanomizu Station, we started a vending machine with only tea and water." Before the installation, I was thinking that it would be nice if more people could laugh at me even a little, but it was a nice scream that there was such a reaction (laughs). I reported to my family that the vending machine I proposed became online news. I was very happy to hear from my grandmother that LINE was "awesome" for the first time in half a year.

In this way, I am able to put my ideas into shape with the strong support of my bosses and seniors around me. Before joining the company, I never imagined that I could do this with a young person in my second year.

What kind of EKINAKA do you want to achieve because it is a Cross Station?

Being a Cross Station, we have more resources to do what was previously difficult. With a small goal, I would like to realize a vending machine that sells gacha-gacha and beverages together, and develop new products that can convey the charm of Nagano, the local area. And with a big goal, I would like to go beyond the scope of EKINAKA and try to create a big city. I think that if we make full use of the know-how of the four companies, we can create a city. It is our uniqueness to be able to challenge such dreams.
