Development and manufacture of original products using spring water of the Tanigawa mountain peak

We develop and manufacture original products making use of the spring water of the Tanigawa mountain peak. We will rebuild the "Oishimizu" brand, which started selling in the former JNR period, on a zero basis and propose a lifestyle called "One day beginning with water" From AQUA - Natural water of the Tanigawa mountain peak ~ It was born. The water sampled in the Joshinetsu Kogen National Park boasting vast nature contains minerals in a well-balanced, mellow and refreshing taste.

Creating products that make use of regional characteristics

The JR East Group is promoting the "Regional Rediscovery Project" to strengthen cooperation with the region and work on regional revitalization such as digging up local products. We also commercialize fruits and natural water in the East Japan area through joint development with local companies, and are developing "local beverage sales" that are mainly sold and consumed in EKINAKA of JR East. So far, we have used fruit juice drinks using apples from Aomori prefecture and peaches from Fukushima prefecture, tea using buckwheat fruits from Nagano prefecture, and natural water taken from the Shirakami Mountains (Akita prefecture), which is also a World Heritage Site. It has been commercialized. We will continue to convey the appeal of the region through beverages.

Joint development of exclusive products for EKINAKA

We are collaborating with beverage manufacturers to jointly develop products exclusively for EKINAKA, aiming for an attractive product lineup that is unique and cannot be realized by the national brand products developed by each beverage manufacturer. Based on the demand peculiar to EKINAKA and sales data, we aim to develop products that meet the needs of customers unique to EKINAKA. We would like to increase the added value of the EKINAKA market by selling products exclusively for EKINAKA at beverage vending machines and stores.

Unification of purchasing functions

For the JR East Group, which has the management resource of a station that is used by 17 million customers a day, the beverage business such as soft drink sales is considered to be a business field with great business opportunities. In order to demonstrate the economies of scale of the JR East Group, we centralize the purchase of beverages and wholesale beverages mainly at EKINAKA(inside the ticket gate) stores operated by group companies. We also wholesale original products to hotels operated by group companies and supermarkets in MACHINAKA(outside the ticket gate)

当社のアキュアの自販機は、特定の飲料メーカーの商品だけを販売する「単一メーカーブランド機」とは異なり、各飲料メーカーの売れ筋商品や季節に合わせた商品を基軸とした品揃えを実現しています。まさに顧客起点で自動販売機流通を再構築したのです。飲料メーカーの枠を超えた“ブランドミックス”のラインナップとオリジナリティあふれるサービスで、お客さま一人ひとりに、エキナカでその瞬間にふさわしいご提案をお届けする「アキュア」として自販機を展開しています。

We will also proactively make new proposals such as assortment of local products and development of gift products such as seasonal products such as year-end gifts and midyear gifts.

Utilization of POS information

With conventional vending machines, it was not possible to obtain POS information related to product sales, but we are building a system that allows us to obtain such information online. This has made it possible to acquire and utilize detailed information on acure vending machines, such as sales information by time zone for each product. Based on such live information, we will develop an assortment of vending machines and original products unique to EKINAKA to further improve their attractiveness.
